Trimming shears and slitting shears
Guillotine shears are also used in fully automated production lines, that means shears which are not fed by a coil but by metal sheets for further processing.
It can be necessary that the sheet metal has to be trimmed in the production company to achieve the required measurements and quality of the cut. The sheet metal has to be trimmed lengthwise that means longitudinal to the running direction as well as transverse. Using one shear and the required handling equipment, or a combination of several accordingly arranged shears a trimming of all sides of the metal sheet is realizable. Guillotine shears for this described purpose are called Trimming shears.
Another application, where sheet metal is fed automatically for further processing, is the longitudinal slitting. To produce sheet metal of various sizes, a cut-to-length shear first cuts a various length of sheet metal of a coil and after that a trimming shear can cut metal strips of various sizes.
